Nepal

What needs to be done
now or what would I do if I were prime minister of Nepal?
- Appeal to people, and all
forces to contribute for Nepal's better future, and take help from everyone
- Learn from the past, but
lead for the future
- Reject all forms of violence
- Coordinate among political
parties for the development of the country
- Do best for the stability
and security
- Increase production , no
philosophy neither can feed nor can shelter the people. Redistributing
the poverty does not prosper a country
- Continue the democratic
process; even if it is not good with your own standard, but no other
proven better system is out there, please have no more trial on our
fate
- Follow the democratic way
to protest so that the country is not fallen behind
- Aware people for no more
'Nepal Banda', 'Chakka Jam', and "Destruction of Property".
Our production is so low,
we cannot loose even a single day. ('Nepal Banda' is a form of strike
practiced very commonly in Nepal banning all the private public activities
all over the country. 'Chakka Jam' is another form of strike, it means
banning driving at all)
- Find the solution of the
problem; at least please do not create an artificial issue that flames
the conflict, and we loose our life
Background
Nepal is an country located
In Asia, between India, and China with about thirty million people, and
181141 square kilometers of land. In the most of the historical time,
people were living in harmony with peace and security. They used live
with good economy, and rich culture. Yes, there were some conflicts but
they were smaller than in other countries. Progress has been made slowly
. Specifically, other countries developed faster than Nepal did in the
last fifty years leading the lower status of Nepal in the world communities.
I was born, and grew up in
Nepal, so what I say here may be biased. I have tried my best to the neutrality
because I believe in the truth.
Nepalese are proud of:
- Nepal was never colonized.
The British empire was defeated in the 17th century. The supporter of
this notion believes Nepalese are brave. The doubter with this notion
believes the country was just a mountain, so the others did not bother
to fight for it.
- Buddha, the lord of Buddhist
religion, was born in Nepal 2500 years ago.
- Mountain Everest, known
as the roof of the earth, is in Nepal.
Nepalese are shamed of:
- One of the poorest country
in 21st century
- Have to import food when
more than 80% of people are farmers
- Political leaders who have
kept their personal and party interests higher than the ideology presented
during the election, and national development.
In my active experience in
a short time period (20 years), I had lived with couple of revolutions.
People have exercised their democratic tool, election, to bring a new
group in political power. None of the groups have been able to increase
the productivity, and control corruption. The worst thing I have seen
is the instability and growing insecurity.
No foreign aid neither can change a poor country to a rich country nor
vice versa. Many foreign countries have sent a large sum of the aid money
in Nepal. Most of the money is returned back to the donor countries while
paying the expatriates' salary, and incentives. Other money is spent to
pay the scholarship and salary for employees involved in the implementation
of the project. A tiny drop has reached to the the target population,
and it has made some positive impact. The good thing is that still goodwill
exist among foreign donors for Nepal.
Let's hope with everyone's
effort, Nepal will be a developed country soon.
